Why I made this:

For three years, I lived below a neighbor who told be "go back to China", in an old building with no insulation. Sleep barely came at night. The only real rest I got was on the road, in hotel rooms between art shows. I couldn't afford to move, so I stayed — and told myself that was just how it was.

By the end of 2025, a few hard things hit at once, and I hit a wall too.

That's when I finally let myself off the hook a little. I moved into a quiet, sunny space at the start of 2026. For the first time in years, I slept. And with sleep came something I hadn't felt in a long time: wanting to make my space mine.

I grew up with a scarcity mindset — save first, buy clearance, calculate cost-per-unit, never spend on anything "useless." So it surprised me when I started buying art, plants, little sculptures. One order, I added a plain crystal just to hit the free shipping minimum. I hung it by the window without much thought.

Watching it scatter light and color across my walls, I realized: this is what I'd been missing. Not another goal. Just this — a quiet moment, paying attention to something small and beautiful, right now.

Rainbow Maker is that reminder. Life isn't only about the next milestone, the next thing we're saving for or working hard toward. The life we have today was once the goal we were reaching for. Enjoy it.
